The Lima Bean

Good news folks, we had our first ultra sound today (to get a more accurate due date) and our little lima bean has a heart and a brain. It was very exciting to see the little heart beating away. Right now little lima is actually too big to really be called a lima bean, measuring around 2 1/2 cm in length. So, we were right on with our due date and the baby is expected around Aug. 25. (sorry the picture's not any better)

You can totally see her little stub arms and head. I know, Chris always thinks that I am seeing things, but this is what years of art training has given me-the ability to filter gray fuzz into a real picture. By the way, I said "her" because in the beginning they all start developing as female until the genitalia is formed. This is why men have nipples. Yes, this information is in response to a question Dylan had a few years ago. Ahh, the joy of having children and learning random facts.

yes, and in our video that we have you can totally see "her" kicking her little legs. I must admit even as a little fetus it was pretty cute, and we watched the video twice last night. :)

That is cool that you have an ultrasound picture already. I had one probably around the same time with Kali too. It will only get more and more exciting as the baby grows. Did you get that book?

Thanks, for the lesson on nipples Lisa. However, humans don't start out as female they start out as having internal anatomy for both and then if we are lucky enough to have a male chromosome :) then we develop both internally and externally as a male, but without that chromosome we automatically devolop into a female.

Gee somebody likes to show off their medical schooling. I guess the males just aren't as efficient at developing as the females and they need that extra chromosome to get the job done.

You guys are such nerds, and that is part of why I love you! Michelle, I think considering it is a picture of the picture, it is pretty good. Very exciting. By the way I'm coming up to Nor Cal the first weekend in March.
